An independent riding guide

What this site is, what it is not, and how the route material is put together.

What this site covers

Adventure Motorcycle is a travel guide to riding in Australia. It covers the routes out of the major cities, the state-level roads that link them, the practical material a rider needs before a long trip, and the conditions — season, surface, distance — that shape how a ride actually goes.

The site is organised around where a ride begins. Each location page describes the riding geography around a city: which roads head where, what the terrain does, how far the good riding is from the edge of town. Guides go deeper into individual roads and into preparation. Trip ideas assemble both into a route.

What this site is not

This is not a rental service, a booking platform or an operator. Nothing here offers a motorcycle for hire, quotes a rate, lists availability or takes a reservation. The name of the site reflects the domain historically associated with it; the content is editorial.

If your trip is better served by a vehicle with a bed in it, the footer links to campervan hire — a different kind of road trip, offered by a different business.

How the material is researched

  • Road, permit and seasonal claims are checked against state transport authorities, national parks agencies and road operators, and the sources are listed at the end of each article.
  • Where a figure could not be confirmed from a primary source, it is left out rather than estimated.
  • Distances and drive times are given only when a listed source states them. A ride time on a motorcycle depends on the rider, the bike and the day, so most of what you will read here is about the road rather than a stopwatch.
  • Photography is licensed from third parties and credited on the page it appears, with the licence recorded in the project's image manifest.
